L"abbondanza is one of those places that you will always remember. The food is based on the best products of the region and is creatively prepared and beautifully presented. The decore is elegant and rustic at the same time. The winelist is both regionall deep and extensive. This is the magic that happens when the owners care deeply about quality, tradition and creative innovation. Among the top 20 places where I have eaten. Wonderful!
The location is off the main attraction in Matera. We came without a reservation but the staff showed us to a table right away. We ordered plate tasting antipasti which consisted of four small dishes local to the region. I like the ricotta with sweet celery. Then for main course we ordered lamb and veal. Présentation is good, taste is good and portion is big. There was a big group dining so the staffs were busy with them. My glass was empty since I finished the starter but was not offered another drink. Anyway, that's ok because it was compensated by the beautiful authentic architecture.
This is a lovely restaurant serving elevated local dishes. The antipasto is very special. The pasta divine. We didn't have room for anything else. Quality and price proportionate. Recommend.

Disappointing meal. Had high expectations being Michelin recommended and the expensive price point only to be very disappointed with the pastas we ordered: both were very average, bland and not appetising. However, the service was excellent.
The owner was obnoxiously rude and sent us away claiming "We are full" (they weren't). They seemed understaffed. Maybe he was having a bad day, but even so...
This restaurant was recommended to us by a local coffee shop owner. We were thoughroughly impressed with the set out and the food was divine. The quality and the service were impeccable. 9.2 out of 10.
